Dante Di Mattia, owner of Casa Dante International Hair Studio in Halifax
Dante is an international hairstylist whose work has been showcased in magazines and newspapers throughout North America and Europe.
Dante's expertise and creativity have won him first place at many international hairstyling competitions. Some of Dante's more notable and memorable wins include the Roman Championship (Rome, Italy), the Daytime Paris Competition (Paris, France), the ABA Atlantic Provincial Championships (Atlantic Canada), the Manitoba Championships (Canada), the Alberta Championships (Canada), along with many others. Dante has also been awarded a bronze medal at the European Championships.
Dante is the first hairstylist east of Toronto, and the only from the Atlantic Provinces, to represent Canada in the World Olympic Hairstyling Competitions.
Dante has also been the recipient of the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award and he was the first hairstylist east of Ontario to receive a Gold Medal status on the judging Panel of Canada. He was the hairstylist for the first ladies of the G-7 Summit. For four years he served as president of the Nova Scotia Hairdressers Association. Dante had a weekly show on cable television for two years and provided advice on hair and beauty in two newspapers over a four year period. He has also done platform work in Europe and North America, including the ERTE fashion show in New York.
He was invited to London, England to create an International Hair instructional Video which has been translated into 10 languages for worldwide distribution and newspapers.
For 10 years Dante owned & operated the successful "Dante International School of Hair & Beauty" and for 11 years Dante was the Hair Designer for the Nova Scotia Drama League. He has created hairstyles for such plays as Annie, The King and I, The Music Man, Cinderella, Snow White, The Wizard of Oz, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, and many others.
